At United Caring Services, we believe everyone deserves a safe place to rest and the resources to rebuild. Our six core programs provide critical care and life-changing opportunities for individuals facing homelessness. From emergency shelters to medical respite and affordable housing, we are committed to offering solutions that restore dignity, stability, and hope. Comprehensive programs designed to restore dignity and create pathways to stability.

Day Shelter

A Safe Haven for Daily Essentials and Support

A safe place to rest, eat, and refresh. Guests receive hot meals, showers, laundry services, and connections to additional resources.

Impact: Serving over 229 guests daily, providing essential services and dignity.

White Flag Emergency Shelter

Emergency Relief When It’s Needed Most

When temperatures drop below freezing, our day shelter transforms to offer warmth and safety to 50 additional guests, ensuring no one sleeps outside in the cold.

Low-Income Housing

A Step Toward Long-Term Stability

21 studio apartments supporting adults transitioning from homelessness, accepting EHA, VASH, PSH, and RRH vouchers.

Emergency Night Shelters

Safe and secure places to sleep for up to 90 days.

  • Men’s Shelter: The men’s shelter, located at 324 N.W. 6th Street offers 55 beds, including 5 medical respite beds. 
  • Women’s Shelter (Ruth’s House): Ruth’s House can be found at 321 E. Walnut Street and can accommodate up to 26 beds, including 4 medical respite beds.

Medical Respite Program

Healing with Compassion and Care

Recovery care for homeless adults discharged from hospitals but too ill to return to the streets.

Impact: 10 respite beds (6 for men, 4 for women), improving health outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.

Diversion & Crisis Services

Breaking Barriers to Recovery and Stability

A compassionate alternative to jail or emergency rooms for those facing addiction or mental health crises, providing a path to recovery while saving taxpayer dollars.
