United Caring Services in Evansville, Indiana strives to be a community of caring for all people by providing relief, recovery, and restoration opportunities for those we serve. This organization offers six life-saving programs and services:
A low barrier, drop-in center for men, women, and children open seven days a week with meals, showers, laundry, mail service, and more. ESG funding through the city of Evansville partially supports this program.
A low barrier, emergency shelter services for men and women (located at Ruth's House). ESG funding from the city of Evansville and IHCDA partially support these programs.
A very low barrier overnight, emergency shelter offered on night's where it will be below freezing. By converting the day shelter into a night shelter, 45- 50 additional people can have accommodations at UCS.
A sobering and stabilization area for adults experiencing substance use/mental health issues to divert from costly/inappropriate emergency services and incarceration toward the help they need.
Twenty-one single occupancy efficiency units for adults experiencing issues of homelessness. EHA, VASH, PSH, and RRH vouchers are accepted.
A place for safe hospital discharge, intense case management, and improved health outcomes for homeless adults who are well enough to leave the hospital but too ill for the street.
